Doña Duglas began her coffee journey in 2016 and quickly developed a deep passion for cultivating exceptional coffee. Alongside her husband Eddy and their family, she manages El Cielo, a small farm in the mountains of Chiapas.

Duglas is a member of Café Delas, a program created to support women coffee producers through education, technical assistance, and direct financial premiums. The program helps ensure women receive recognition and compensation for their contributions while building long-term sustainability for their farms and communities.

For Duglas, coffee farming represents both opportunity and pride. She believes that the care and attention women bring to coffee production play an important role in creating outstanding quality from seed to cup.

Story

Every harvest, Duglas and her family carefully handpick only the ripest coffee cherries. She takes an active role in the picking process herself, ensuring that quality standards are maintained throughout harvest.

After picking, the cherries are depulped and fermented for 24 to 36 hours before being thoroughly washed and dried in the sun. Throughout drying, the coffee is carefully monitored and turned regularly to promote consistency and preserve clarity in the cup.

This hands-on approach produces a coffee that is clean, sweet, and expressive. Spark highlights the dedication of the family behind El Cielo while celebrating the impact of women-led coffee production in Mexico.
