This holiday season, Greater Goods is bringing you another stocking stuffer that features three coffees we are immensely proud of. All three of these beautiful coffees are produced by women whose diligent work and love for what they do shines in the cup. Bringing these three coffees together, all from different coffee growing regions, sums up at the end of the year what Greater Goods enjoys most about what we do: showcasing amazing coffees from our women-producer partners. Without further ado, here are the three coffees that give us those warm and cozy holiday feelings…
Finca Las Juntas:
From Colombia, Finca Las Juntas is helmed by Yamile Muñoz, with the help of her mother, whose farm is way high up the mountain in the San Agustin region of Huila. Yamile spent her childhood on this farm, but like many, she looked for better opportunities and moved to Bogotá, Colombia's bustling capital. However, the call of her roots and the desire to raise her child in the peaceful countryside drew her back to San Agustín nearly seven years ago. After several years of producing commercial grade coffee, Yamile and her mother planted the relatively new and extremely popular variety, Pink Bourbon, in an attempt to break into the specialty coffee scene. After a visit last year from Team GG, we were over the moon with Yamile and her coffee.
La Lucuma:
From Peru, Finca La Lucuma is a coffee farm run by Lizana Morales Grimanes, who with 40 years of coffee growing experience, won the 2019 Cup of Excellence program in her home country. At her farm,they’ve focused on the Marshell variety, a decision made after a devastating plague in 2018 destroyed their previous crop. To compete in the Peru Cup of Excellence, they experimented with naturally mutated coffee varieties. The variety named after her husband, Marcelino stood out for its quality, consistently ranking in the top 10 of the C.o.E. competition.
Finca Kilimanjaro:
Lastly, from El Salvador, Finca Kilimanjaro is a legendary coffee farm in the Santa Ana region. Aida Batlle is a fifth-generation coffee producer operating her family’s three farms (Fincas Los Alpes, Kilimanjaro, and Mauritania). In 2003, after only one year of working her family’s farms, Aida won the first Cup of Excellence competition in El Salvador with a washed bourbon from Finca Kilimanjaro. Not only that, but she was also the first female producer to do so. She is a genuine coffee producing celebrity, being mentioned and featured in TIME, Forbes, and The New Yorker. This is the first year we have the privilege of featuring one of Aida’s coffees and can’t wait for you to taste what the fuss is all about.
Needless to say, Greater Goods can’t wait for our customers to share these incredible coffees with family and friends over the holiday season.
