Happy holidays, GG-ers!
One of the greatest joys of being a barista is getting to meet so many talented, eclectic, and creative people. Our regular customers are musicians, designers, artists, writers, podcasters... The list goes on! We're grateful to be part of this weird little Texas community. We're hoping you'll snag some beans for your friends and family this holiday season, but we're also firm believers that a bag of coffee and something small is the perfect gift for almost everyone on your list.
SO we've compiled list of a handful of our customers and their small businesses, to spread the holiday cheer, give back to the community, and show off to the rest of the world all the cool people who drink Greater Goods coffee.
1. Coffee and a bag of jerky.
PURE JERKY CO - Chef Tripi is a regular customer at our Bee Cave location. We first met years ago when he started using our beans at his restaurants. Over the last few months, we've watched him turn his jerky dream into a tasty reality. Pure Jerky is handmade here in Austin using 100% US Angus beef. We can attest to its deliciousness; it's sweet, spicy, and the perfect texture.
2. Coffee and a watercolor magnet.
KATHYPHANTASTIC - Kathy is our kinda people. Not only is she an incredible artist, but she's also a fellow foodie, dog lover, and small business owner! From matcha to tacos to pet portraits, Kathy's got a hand-illustrated watercolor design for anybody on your list. Our favorite is the Vietnamese Coffee sticker ;-).
3. Coffee and a clay face mask.
HIGH SUN LOW MOON - Cassie radiates positive energy. Even behind the layers of plexiglass and face masks, we can still feel her good vibes and calming presence whenever she visits us in east Austin. High Sun Low Moon is her transcendent apothecary. Offering handmade tinctures, oils, and more, Cassie creates with the intention to ritualize self-care, connecting further with the inner self and Our Mother Earth. *ooohmm* Our cafe manager Micaela's choice? Mother Rose Mask, once a week.
4. Coffee and a ceramic mug.
CHANTAL CERAMICS - When she's not refilling her cold brew growler in Bee Cave, you better bet Chantal is making something. Besides her stunning hand-thrown ceramics, she also embroiders memes and makes crop tops and scrunchies. I was gifted this striped mug at the sweetgreen grand opening earlier this year. It is now the only mug I will drink from. I feel prettier when I hold it. Plus, you can use the discount code GREATERGOODS for 10% off any item in her store, because she's literally the sweetest human on earth.
5. Coffee and the essential spices.
MOTHER TONGUE - Myles is one of those everyday kinda customers. He keeps it classic with his coffee order, but beyond the cafe he's spicing it up with his brother Liam. Both professional chefs-turned-entrepreneurs, the brothers behind Mother Tongue hope to inspire creative and adventurous home cooking. I know y'all are cookin' up a storm these days, so how about kicking it up a notch?
6. Coffee and a silk pillow.
APT. F - Walking into Apt. F's brick + mortar on 11th St. is one of my favorite ways to destress. Hand-knotted Moroccan rugs hang from the walls, the display tables are set and color coordinated, and the whole place smells like palo santo. Ashley and her team design textiles in house and collaborate with artisans in Morocco and Turkey to produce them in small batches. Say goodbye to the bean bag and hello to a blissful bohemian way of life. *leaf emoji*
7. Coffee and a bottle of wine.
HAWK'S SHADOW - A bev to wind up and a bev to wind down. Co-founder Khanh Trang swears by this Dripping Springs winery, so you know it's gotta be good. Handcrafted in the Texas Hill Country, Hawk's Shadow offers everything from juicy reds to crisp whites. Khanh's personal fave is Juliet, but there are no bad choices here.
8. Coffee and a macrame plant holder.
ROOTS BY HANDS - Alright, so this one's not a customer *per se*. Lilliana is a barista at our cafes, but when she's not pouring latte art you'll probably find her mountain biking or making these beautiful macrame plant holders, ornaments and more. She just opened her shop on Etsy and we couldn't be prouder. Felicidades, amiga!
9. Coffee and a spa day.
SPRUCE SALON - A fresh haircut is the *perfect* antidote for seasonal depression - take my word for it 🙃. Plus, the gals at Spruce really know how to pamper a gal (or guy!). Our Bee Cave neighbors are a pleasure to be around and offer COVID-safe color, cut, and makeup services.
10. Coffee and a succulent.
EDEN HOUSE BOTANICALS - Plants are head roaster Sara G.'s go-to for holiday gifting. Eden House Botanicals is an Austin-based Etsy shop offering eclectic succulents and totally rad vintage pieces. Treat your peeps to a totes cute plant baby.
11. Coffee and goat cheese.
PURE LUCK DAIRY - As a general rule, we have at least one tub of Pure Luck goat cheese in the fridge at the roaster at all times. From classic chevre to feta (in brine!), there are no wrong answers when it comes to cheese.
