Small Batch Limited Roast - An amazing treat from Rwanda - Lot 2 from the Gatare washing station. This particular coffee has tasting notes of Limeade, Juicy Apples and honey/caramel sweetness. Works equally well for all brewing methods. As an espresso, it tastes distinctly like a Granny Smith apple dipped in caramel. Do yourself a favor and try out this coffee while it lasts.
Producer Smallholders, Gatare station
Process Hand picked, fully washed, dried on raised beds
Elevation 1765 masl
Variety Red Bourbon
Soil Volcanic Loam
Rwanda's Gatare washing station is located in the Nyamasheke region of the Western Province, just inland from Lake Kivu. Started by Alex Nduwamungu in 2003, it was one of the first washing stations in Rwanda to process cherry specifically for the specialty coffee market. Gatare works with local cooperatives composed of over 500 farmers, of whom approximately 65% are women farmers.
