Direct Trade Coffee - An incredible limited and rare special treat. Grown by the Solis family in Tarrazu, this coffee consists exclusively of a rare coffee varietal called Villalobos. This particular lot was processed as a red honey meaning only a portion of the coffee fruit was removed from the bean before being sun-dried on raised beds. In the cup we taste juicy stone fruits (apricot and peaches) and chocolate sweetness with a complex floral-honey finish.

The Solis family started producing coffee on their family’s land over 70 years ago. In 2013, they made the decision to build their own micro mill to control the processing of their coffee. A family business, it is run by 3 partners: Oscar Solis (father), Horacio Solis and Alejandro Solis. The mill is aptly named for the patriarch of the family, Don Oscar. The coffee is carefully selected and dried in the sun to produce a better quality. The whole process is run by the family members.
