Limited Time Offering • Butegana is the oldest coffee washing station in Burundi, located near the border of Rwanda to the north. This particular coffee has been honey processed, which is not common in Burundi. Only the ripest cherries may be used, and workers squeeze oranges over the coffee as it dries. The result is a beautiful complex coffee with notes of honeysuckle and tropical fruits.

Butegana was built in 1972 and was the first washing station in Burundi. Many years ago, Rwandan and Burundian troops fought against each other in this region. That is how it got the name 'Butegana' which means "place of attack".
